Social Work Licensing
The professional practice of Social Workers is regulated by the State of Oklahoma through the Oklahoma State Board of Licensed Social Workers (Licensing Board). The Licensing Board is mandated by state law which defines the rules under which social workers may practice.
The Social Work Licencing Law is defined under Oklahoma State Statutes, Chapter 32, Social Workers, Sections 1250-1272. As a requirement of this law, the Licensing Board is composed of seven members, one of which is always the NASW-OK Chapter President.
Along with licensing of social workers comes the requirement for annual continuing education credits. The NASW-OK Annual State Conference provides pre-approved CEU's designed to fulfill the Licensing Board requirements. Sponsors of educational events who wish to be pre-approved, must apply to the Licensing Board for approval.
